Who operates Joseph’s Coat?

Joseph’s Coat is an independent, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. Although we receive support from many philanthropic partners throughout the community, we are a self-sustaining organization.

Is there a charge for the things at Joseph’s Coat?

No. All items available in the store have been received as donations which we pass on at no charge to our guests.

If everything is free, why are you so particular about the quality of donations?

People who shop at Joseph’s Coat are already struggling with issues in their lives. Our purpose is to help them feel better about themselves – not remind them that they need help. Expecting our shoppers to wear apparel that tells everyone they can’t afford clothing doesn’t promote self-respect and dignity.

Do I need a referral to shop at Joseph’s Coat?

No, but you do need to make an appointment to shop. Shopping days are Mondays and Wednesdays only. Call 651-291-2472 to schedule an appointment. Phones are answered Monday-Thursday 9am – 3pm. A photo ID is required to shop.

How do I value my goods donations for tax deduction purposes?

The donor is responsible for determining the value of their individual donation. IRS Publication 561 “Determining the Value of Donated Property” may provide some useful information.

Does Joseph’s Coat provide food?

Joseph’s Coat is not a food shelf but will help its guests identify and locate food resources, if needed.

The generosity of individuals and organizations

Joseph’s Coat receives no public funding, and relies on the generosity of individuals and organizations to meet its general operating and program expenses. Please help those we serve by making a donation!
